Friday, January 1st, 2010

They’ ve done it again! SYNERGY Events put on their second annual New Year’ s Eve Timeless event, proving to be more successful than the last.

Sticking with their theme of  “ Old Hollywood” gaining inspiration from 1940’ s glamour, the bash held a pre-party red carpet, presented couture gowns, played dance music,  and had champagne flowing. It was hard to feel anything but famous making one’ s way down the exclusive red carpet complete with photographers into Boston’ s hottest party of the year.

Timeless two-timer Karen Sabag, a vintage designer, showcased her most recent collection of couture gowns at the event, creating an atmosphere of drama and refinement. Guests were able to gaze in awe as the designs were exhibited throughout the party. Gowns were constructed of lush and dreamy fabrics in silvers and blacks. The glamorous silhouettes were a nod to the era in which the party was influenced by.

Hair was done by a Boston favorite,  Steve Doherty.  Doherty has been in the industry since 1980, was the winner of the Best of Boston twice and is a hair stylist at the acclaimed Salon Marc Harris (Broad St. location). Hairstyles implemented modern ‘ dos with those of old Hollywood; bleached blond pinned curls on one model, a soft, twisted up do on another.

Music was provided by pop/R& B artist Lee Wilson. DJ ILMADIK also worked the turntables like he did last year and provided the latest club music for the guests to dance to. Project K Paz also supplied “spontaneous music,” which is entirely improvisation from start to finish.

Not only was the soiree a complete success, a percentage of proceeds also benefited The Home for Little Wanderers. It is a non-profit organization that assists the lives of young children and families who live an endangered life and is headquartered in Boston. Since being in existence for over 200 years, The Home has successfully serviced underprivileged families.

Tickets ran for just $65 for regular admission and $100 for VIP. Incentives included the first hundred to purchase tickets got the chance to win an iPhone. Prizes were also given out to award the best dressed male and female respectively.

Once again, guests sang “ Auld Lang Synge” fully decked in Old Hollywood starlet garments to an old year and cheerfully welcomed a new one. SYNERGY’ s 2010 Timeless New Years Eve Event continues to grow and holds a reputation of being a unique and upscale player in Boston’ s

Timeless: The Most Exclusive Boston New Years Eve Party 2009

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Old Hollywood conjures up images of luxury and glamour. Though the era is far behind us due to our pop culture obsessions of celebrities’ every move, the style of Old Hollywood has withstood the test of time. Starlets such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Clara Bow, and James Dean still dress the walls of our bedrooms and serve as muses to the largest of fashion houses. Old Hollywood stays relevant in our society’ s norm of new.

Taking cue from an ageless point in time, SYNERGY Events held an “ Old Hollywood” theme New Years Eve Boston Gala, the perfect way to welcome a new year in style. About 350 guests were treated to fashion, beauty, music, and spirits at The Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts.

Globally-respected designer Karen Sabang, a guru of dramatic couture, displayed glamorous gowns inspired by Old Hollywood starlets. Sabang’ s garments utilized the fabrics and colors of the era, like candy apple red, draped velvet, plum, feathers, floating chiffon, and sequin-embellished materials.

The designs were the perfect balance of Old Hollywood glamour and contemporary couture.

Models were transformed into Old Hollywood beauty queens by Girly Junk, a cosmetics service based out of Norwell, MA. The girls were donned in tasteful metallics, sultry red lips, and effortlessly sexy updos: the ideal touch to complete their flapper fashions.

Guests got to dance the year away thanks to Reup, a jazz/hip-hop fused band, and rising star Renee Marcou, a pint-sized spunky blonde whose voice is compared to that of Christina Aguilera. DJ ILMATI provided music for the fashion show.

There was not a tired soul in the building as energy-drink company Red Bull kept guests amped. Canadian export, Pearl Vodka, flowed through glasses as the event’ s vodka of choice. And to satisfy those who had New Year’ s Resolutions dedicated to weight loss, diet and health beverage Fuze was offered.

Though we live in a “ New Hollywood” society, Old Hollywood still reigns supreme.

SYNERGY Event’ s Timeless New Years Eve celebration was anything but typical. By blending high fashion, modern beauty, and contemporary music with the ambiance of a sophisticated speakeasy during the rebellion of prohibition, the event welcomed a new year by honoring a past era.
